When looking for Antelope Canyon hotels and camping, you're actually looking for hotels in Page, Arizona. Page is the city that is the home and hub to some of the most spectacular attractions in the Southwest including Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon and Lee's Ferry. You may have not heard of Page, AZ as it hasn't always been on the radar. But with a growing love for outdoor adventure, Page is now being recognized internationally as the place where your Southwest adventure begins. So when you're ready to book a hotel for your Antelope Canyon adventure, remember that all hotels that are branded Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell or Page are all actually just located in Page.
If you are camping, there are several options outside of Page that may serve your needs better than actaully going into town itself depending on what ammenities you require. There are a number of beautiful locations where you can put up a tent or park your van/truck and enjoy the water and/or scenery free of charge. If you want isolation, the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (GCNRA) is 1.25 million acres, and the Arizona strip is Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that spans longer in distance than many New England states. Fnding a completely private piece of land to claim for your own up to 14 days shouldn't be difficult out here. Just make sure you know the regulations concerning overnighting including Leave No Trace rules.
Some popular locations are Lone Rock Beach, a favorote of locals; and Alstrom Point, popular among off-roading crowd. Lone Rock Beach is a few miles of sandy beach just 20 minutes from Page, with campsites near the water for about $12/night. There are restrooms but no hookups or potable water. Alstrom Point offers one of the most scenic overlooks of Lake Powell. It is part of the GCNRA and you will need 4wd to get all the way to the end. There are some great camping sites on the way. Again, please make sure you know the rules of overnighting here, leave no trace, and don’t camp in a wash, because of the flash flood dangers.
